Butte County Jury Awards Less Than Settlement Amount Offered By Retail Store Before Trial

San Francisco attorney Candice Mullings Williams defended a large retail store in a jury trial held in California Superior Court, Butte County. Plaintiff claimed she was injured when she slipped and fell while shopping at the retail store. Plaintiff alleged permanent injuries to her neck, back, and tailbone. Plaintiff sought to recover monetary damages for lost wages, medical expenses, and pain and suffering. The jury found plaintiff 50% liable and rendered a verdict which was less than the settlement amount offered by the retail store prior to trial.
