James Butkus is an associate in our San Francisco office. Mr. Butkus earned his J.D. from The University of Virginia School of Law, where he served as Vice President of the UVA Law Mock Trial team. During his summers in law school, Mr. Butkus worked for the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia and the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office. Mr. Butkus also obtained significant practical experience by participating in the UVA Law Prosecution Clinic during his third year. Mr. Butkus most recently served as a Fellow with the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office before joining our firm.
Before attending law school, Mr. Butkus graduated with highest honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He earned his B.A. in Urban Planning and received two minors in Spanish and Political Science. Mr. Butkus grew up in Glen Ellyn, Illinois and enjoys fishing, hiking, cooking, and watching baseball in his free time. He also speaks conversational Spanish.
Mr. Butkus is admitted to practice law in California.
