Alexis Eka is an associate attorney in our Los Angeles office. A first generation Nigerian-American, Ms. Eka combines her cultural background and sharp legal mind in her litigation practice. Before joining Phillips, Spallas & Angstadt LLP, Ms. Eka externed for The Honorable William Q. Hayes and The Honorable John A. Houston at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California. She focuses now on trial preparation and client advocacy. Ms. Eka is licensed in California and the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
Raised in Los Angeles and conversational in Igbo and French, Ms. Eka earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola Marymount University, double majoring in Political Science and African American Studies. Ms. Eka earned her Juris Doctorate from Syracuse University College of Law, with distinction, earning both the Dean’s and Alumni inclusion Scholarships.
While at Syracuse, Ms. Eka excelled in trial advocacy, competing in national tournaments like the National Civil Trial Competition and the Constance Baker Motley Mock Trial Competition, where she was a National Finalist. She was also inducted into the Advocacy Honors Society and served as a student prosecutor on the Academic Dishonesty Board. Ms. Eka also contributed to the Journal of Global Rights and Organizations, publishing on issues such as police brutality, enforced disappearances, and global elections. Alexis was named an International Scholar by the Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) and is involved in regional affinity groups, including the Langston Bar Association and Black Women Lawyers Los Angeles, where she serves as a member of the Scholarship Board.
